Israeli MK: Israel has received inquiries from countries to accept refugees from Gaza
Knesset member and former UN ambassador Danny Danon said Monday night, in an interview on Kan Bet, that the State of Israel has received inquiries from countries willing to take in refugees from the Gaza Strip. "I received inquiries from various countries... from countries that are ready to take in refugees and in the past were even in contact with the State of Israel on this issue... these are countries from South America and Africa," adding that "some of them asked for payment and some of them asked for other things."
According to the Knesset member, this is "voluntary migration of Palestinians who wish to leave." "It happens in every war, look at what's happening in Syria – one and a half million went to Jordan, three million went to Turkey and another few million went to Europe," Danon said, suggesting that "we will keep in touch with the countries of the region first, and the countries of the world, and not scare them with large numbers. Even if each country receives ten thousand, twenty thousand Gazans, this is significant." Yesterday, Netanyahu said that he is ready to encourage voluntary immigration of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, but that Israel's issue is finding countries to accept the refugees.
Danon, discussing a government in the Gaza Strip after the war, said that "an international force composed of moderate Arab countries is the one that will deal with civil issues." He also said, "there is no reason to rehabilitate [Gaza] if they are not ready to renounce incitement and terrorism."
